Tuesday, 04 de October 2022

The mayor of Dénia and president of the Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy Foundation of the Valencian Community, Vicent Grimalt, and the rector of the University of Alicante (UA), Amparo Navarro, yesterday signed a collaboration agreement for the development of the 'Dénia Festival de les Humanitats' that will celebrate its first edition from October 27 to 29, 2022.

The agreement signed between the two institutions aims to promote and facilitate the participation of the university community in the Dianense initiative, an open forum for training and debate with top-level experts in the field of humanistic thought, among other issues, regarding the future evolution of humanity.

Through this agreement, the educational institution does not only become a collaborator of the festival, but its incorporation into the direction and coordination of the event is foreseen. Similarly, members of the university community will participate in the discussion boards and presentations of the informative sessions, which UA students will be able to attend free of charge.

Vicent Grimalt has pointed out that “having universities in a festival like this is key when creating a forum for thought such as the one that ''Dénia Festival of Humanities' intends to be, an event that will have continuity, not only year after year, but throughout the entire course, with activities related to the contents of the festival and in which the universities will be essential”.

Rector Navarro, for her part, has confirmed the commitment of the educational institution stating that "the University of Alicante is delighted to be able to participate and contribute all its knowledge and research potential".

Recognition of credits

For the part that touches the students, accrediting the attendance to 8 talks of the festival will have the right to be recognized a credit and a half. If they cannot attend all the conferences, by attending a minimum of 10 hours they will receive a credit from the University of Alicante.
