This afternoon it took place at the Multiespai L'Androna. The opening ceremony of this festival included the participation of the Minister of Universities of the Government of Spain, Joan Subirats, and the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig , and the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, representing the unequivocal institutional support for this important event.
The inaugural session of the Dénia Festival de les Humanitats has started with the intervention of the mayor of Dénia, who has described this event as“the festival of people who are not afraid to know, in this world that cries out for reflection.” Vicent Grimalt wanted to highlight that ”Dénia has once again demonstrated that its concerns and the potential of its people can and have taken it very far.”
The Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, took up the gauntlet of the introductory words of the mayor of Dénia in his speech and agreed with the appropriateness of holding an event of these characteristics in the current time of conflicts and uncertainty, in addition to noting that “this festival honors the idea of culture as an essential right of people, and in this sense, it will count always with the support of the Ministry of Universities.” Subirats has highlighted that this festival is “especially significant due to the dimension it has and its open nature to all people.”
The institutional inauguration ceremony closed with the intervention of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, who warned that “a ghost haunts Europe: uncertainty.” The Valencian president has pointed out that we find ourselves in a world that has been populated by questions for which we do not know the answers, but we do know where we can find them, in humanism and enlightened values. “We are in Dénia to talk and embrace ideas, which are what will help us combat uncertainty,” concluded Ximo Puig.
