Daniel Gamper

He is a professor of Moral and Political Philosophy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and head of the Department of Philosophy. He has focused his research on the field of political philosophy, specifically on theories of democracy, politics and religion. He has published numerous articles on the role of religions in democratic societies, the limits of liberalism and the concept of tolerance. In 2019 he was awarded the Anagrama Essay Prize for the book Las mejores palabras. De la libre expresión. He is the editor of the book La fe en la ciudad secular (Trotta) and the author of Laicidad secular (Bellaterra) and De qué te ríes. Beneficios y estragos de la broma (Herder Editorial). He has translated works by Nietzsche, Scheler and Habermas, among others. He contributes periodically to Diari Ara. In collaboration with the Centre de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona (CCCB), he has participated in several events and debates and has published interviews with authors such as Zygmunt Bauman, John Gray and Michael Walzer for the "Dixit" collection, published by Katz and CCCB.
