Cristina Gallach

Trained as a journalist at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she worked at TVE, El Periódico de Catalunya and the EFE Agency. She was a correspondent for the EFE Agency in Moscow and Brussels. For more than a decade she was Javier Solana's press chief, first when he was Secretary General of NATO and then as High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, until the end of 2009. In December 2014, she was appointed United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communication and Public Information. In 2018 she was appointed High Commissioner of the Spanish government for the 2030 Agenda and from February of that year to July 2021 she held the position of Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean. In 2022 she was appointed Commissioner by the Alliance for the New Language Economy of the Government of Spain. She is currently a member of Global Women Leaders-voices for change and equality (GWL-Voices)
