Carles Lalueza

Biologist, director of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona (MCNB). He has worked at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, as well as at the private genetics company deCODE Genetics (Iceland). He is a recognized expert in paleo-genetics studies. He has participated in the Neanderthal Genome project in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and has led the sequencing of the first European Mesolithic genome. He has published several popular science books and was awarded the 2007 City of Barcelona Prize for Scientific Research. He was also awarded the Narcís Monturiol medal of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2018).
