PhD in Economics (Ramon Llull University of Barcelona) and Degree in Chemical Sciences (University of Barcelona). He also holds a diploma in Business Management from EADA-Business School. He began his career in environmental engineering, although he soon joined Intermón Oxfam where he held various management positions, first coordinating the programs in Latin America and later as Assistant to the Director General coordinating the integration into Oxfam as well as assuming strategic planning. Subsequently, he joined Caixa Catalunya to direct the Un Sol Món Foundation where he promoted microfinance, job placement and social housing programmes. In 2010, he joined the "la Caixa" Foundation, combining functions of support for strategic development with the position of manager of the ISGlobal Foundation. In 2012 he was appointed Director of People and Strategy and in 2014 he joined the Management Committee of the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation, where he is currently Corporate Executive director of the CaixaResearch Institute and of Research and Health in Portugal of the Fundació ‘la Caixa’ and president of Philea.
